Legal & Compliance

Last updated: 1 January 2026

Lyons Blade is committed to full compliance with UK knife legislation. We take our legal responsibilities seriously and operate within the framework of the Criminal Justice Act 1988, the Offensive Weapons Act 2019, and all relevant trading standards.

UK Knife Law

Under UK law, it is legal to carry a non-locking folding knife with a blade length of 7.62cm (3 inches) or less in public without a specific reason. All other knives require a lawful reason to carry in public, such as for use at work, religious purposes, or as part of a national costume.

It is illegal to sell knives to anyone under the age of 18 in the United Kingdom. Lyons Blade strictly complies with all UK knife legislation and age verification requirements.

Age Verification

All customers must be aged 18 or over to purchase knives and bladed articles from Lyons Blade. We use a third-party age verification service at checkout to confirm your age.

In addition, our delivery partners may request proof of age upon delivery. Acceptable forms of ID include a valid passport, driving licence, or PASS-accredited proof of age card. If age cannot be verified at the point of delivery, the parcel will be returned to us.

Restricted Items

Certain types of knives and bladed articles are prohibited under UK law and cannot be sold, imported, or possessed. These include butterfly knives (balisongs), disguised knives, flick knives (switchblades), gravity knives, and zombie knives. Lyons Blade does not sell any prohibited items.

Responsible Ownership

We believe in responsible knife ownership. Knives are tools designed for specific purposes — cooking, outdoor activities, craftsmanship, and everyday carry tasks. We encourage all our customers to understand and comply with local knife laws and to use their purchases responsibly.
